Year-End Technology Update for Parents / Students

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Due to the uncertainty of what this fall will look like, we have decided to leave all technology devices in the hands of students for the summer months. (Excluding seniors who will be dropping off Monday, June 1st)

Later this summer we will collect first-grade iPads & chargers and at the same time issue them chrome books. Those iPads will be cleaned and re-purposed for the incoming kindergarten students.

We ask that parents/guardians ensure that the school device is fully charged before storing somewhere safe for the summer. Storing the device with a fully charged battery helps to prevent battery failure in the fall.

Of course, students are welcome and encouraged to use their devices over the summer to continue learning. Access to the many educational platforms provided by MSAD #60 will continue during the summer months including:

  • Zearn - K-5

  • Khan Academy - All Grades

  • Freckle Math - K-1 iPad app, 2-12 website

  • Epic Books, K-5

  • Lexia Core 5  K-1 (Grades 2-5 through 7/31/20)

Should students need technical support they should continue to use the technology help desk system which is linked to the technology department website as well as on all school and district sites.

The technology department will be switching to a pickup system for any student who needs a replacement device. Technology department staff will be available by appointment throughout the summer for families to swap out problematic Computers, iPads, and chargers.

Please submit a ticket through the helpdesk system if you have a broken or non-working device.

Sincerely,

Chris Russo

Technology Director
